In the era of the #MeToo movement and female empowerment, Cinedigm announced it has acquired exclusive worldwide digital (including live-streaming) distribution rights to The Aurora Games – an ambitious all-female sports and entertainment festival slated for Aug. 20-25, 2019.

The event– scheduled to occur every two years celebrating women’s accomplishments against a backdrop of world-class competition and entertainment – is the brainchild of long-time sports executive Jerry Solomon, probably best-known for his business association and marriage to former Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan.

Soloman-produced sports events include tennis’ BNP Paribas Showdown at Madison Square Garden, World Tennis Day and World Tennis Day events in Hong Kong and London, figure skating’s Tribute to the Golden Age of American Skating, Halloween on Ice and One Enchanted Evening, beach volleyball’s Queen of the Beach Invitational, among others.

Horror festivals are terrifying enough with bloody clowns and too close for comfort chainsaws. But in Blood Fest, the event celebrating the most iconic movies becomes a real-life slasher nightmare when attendees try to survive actual killers.

I lost my wife to a homicidal maniac, and I sort of make it my mission to put a stop to these.”

In First Original Scripted Series, Cinedigm Spotlights Emily Hahn, Feminist Adventurer Who Chronicled China
+
-

EXCLUSIVE: In its first original scripted series, Cinedigm is embracing its close ties with China by telling the story of Emily “Mickey” Hahn. The noted feminist and adventurer helped introduce Shanghai and greater China to U.S. readers in the 1930s through her articles in the New Yorker magazine.

The project is the first about Hahn’s life and the first major green-light for Cinedigm since it was recapitalized by Hong Kong investment firm Bison Capital Holdings in mid-2017. Mark Yellen Productions and Rosenbloom Entertainment are teaming with Cinedigm on the series. The exact distribution road map has yet to be fully drawn, but the companies see the series as a prestige property suitable for streaming, broadcast and cable networks around the world.

Production on location in Shanghai and Hong Kong is expected to start in 2019. The shoot will make use of Shanghai’s picturesque waterfront district, The Bund, which is full of colonial-era and Art Deco architecture suited to Hahn’s heyday.

The free, ad-supported streaming movie and TV service Tubi is adding branded, curated on-demand channels to its product, giving content partners a branded place to offer their programming to Tubi’s users.

Tubi Channels, as it is called, will feature branded rows for each channel on Tubi’s home page. Users can also find all the content provided by that content owner on a dedicated landing page.

Launch partners will include DramaFever, Dove Channel, Shout Factory and MGM. Tubi Channels will be rolled out to the service’s users over the next few weeks.

“Tubi Channels are essentially Amazon Channels for free video on demand, offering instant distribution across all OTT devices and the growing distribution network of the Tubi app,” says Farhad Massoudi, founder and CEO of Tubi. “Finding audiences in the increasingly fragmented OTT space is incredibly hard, and Tubi Channels makes that process significantly easier for our content partners.”
